Blog Banter: I Love Limited Edition Stuff!
Welcome, welcome to the 6th installment of Blog Banter, the monthly blogging extravaganza headed by bs angel! Blog Banter involves our cozy community of enthusiastic gaming bloggers, a common topic, and a week to post articles pertaining to said topic. The results are quite entertaining and can range from deep insight to ROFLMAO. Any questions about Blog Banter should be directed here. I'll keep this short and quick since I listen to podtoid and RetroforceGO! like some sort of religious ritual and they've been through this topic a few times, I believe, or at least I remember Mr. Chad Concelmo talking about it... probably in the Podtoid he guest starred in. My opinion isn't too far off from what they were saying if I remember correctly.
Firstly, I'm a bit of a collector. I'm a sucker for anything that says "First Press" and/or "Limited Edition", especially for Japanese CDs or game franchises that I adore. I just recently purchased the Limited Edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 because Metal Gear Solid is totally made of awesome and win and as a Metal Gear fanboy, I must purchase the Limited Edition because it totally boosts my fanboy cred. (My collection of Limited Edition / First Press Perfume releases is, even in my opinion, quite impressive.)
But, on the flip side, I don't tend to buy regular editions of CDs or games unless:
a) I completely LOVE the Game / CD.
AND
b) There is no Limited Edition.
OR
c) There's nothing special packaged with the Limited Edition.
Heck, I got suckered into buying Need For Speed: Carbon in Limited Edition and I don't think there was anything special except a few extra, pre-tuned cars - nothing that would make it TOO much different from the regular edition in the long run.
Sigh.
I think that's it for now though I think I want to put a few more cents into this post, but I have to head out >_> WOO Wonderland (btw, that's where I'm going right now! I have to head out the door now. Gotta love procrastination)

I've never got into the Special Edition craze - could never really justify the extra cost.
That's one reason why I'd welcome buying a game by download as I wouldn't miss having another box/case cluttering up my room.
LOL, ... You are the sort of person those gaming companies love! I will also fork over a few extra dollars for the collector's edition, but only for games I am especially passionate about. :)
We love special editions that are atually "special"! :)
